Project meeting Stuttgart, Germany, October 2006

Date: 2007-11-01

The 1st transnational meeting of the MorePAL Grundtvig 1 project was organized on the 14th – 18th of October 2006 in Stuttgart, Germany.

This was a meeting of the coordinators. Each country sent 2 representatives. Some of the project partners have done previous work together, so they knew each other, but for the most participants this was when they have first has seen each other. Therefore main part of the meeting was dedicated to project organization and the other part to teambuilding activities.

Each country team gave to the partners a background on the organizations they represented and stated their view on the project. Free discussions took place in order to obtain a good mutual understanding of the project. The activity plan and the monitoring and evaluation procedures were agreed. A special stress was on how to actively involve the parents and families in the project activities, with the purpose of developing their learning. A trademark of the project will be to involve at least 2 parents in all the next project transnational meetings.

Volkshochschule Stuttgart e.V is the largest institution offering continuing education in the region, some 5000 individual courses are held each year. This educational centre gives access to education, art and culture to children, young persons and adults of all ages. The children’s corner (‘Treffpunkt Kinder’) at the VHS Stuttgart offers as well as child care a diverse range of activities to children between the ages of two and twelve e.g. the VHS children’s academy, art workshops, theatre, a children’s cinema, courses, holiday programmes and festivals. Art courses for parents and their children have been offered over the last one and half years, with the aim of offering families the possibility to learn and experience together. The visitors had the chance to see an activity for parents and children.

Stuttgart is a culturally reach city and the hosts organized daily activities which gave to the visitors the opportunity to discover the city heart. At the Opera participants got a taste of the very modern performance and at the Modern Art Museum some of them had the opportunity to see art pieces of created by their national artists.

The group thanks to Andrea and Eva, the German hosts, for the good organization of the first meeting.
