Workshops and activities in "Vassil Aprilov" School, Rousse (BG)

The first workshop for parents took place in “Vassil Aprilov” School in Russe (North Bulgaria) in February 2007. The parents worked in small groups aiming to share their expectations from the MorePAL project and to plan their future work and objectives within the project. They discussed different issues, one of them related to the role and the establishment of parents associations. The RWCT interactive techniques implemented during the session were very much appreciated by the parents. 
 
Aims and objectives of the workshop
• Presentation of the project objectives and activities;
• Survey of the needs and potential of families with view helping their children develop:
a) Description of the way parents spend their spare time with their children;
b) Creative solutions to help their child develop and cope with any learning difficulties;
c) Plan extracurricular and other school activities to be carried out with parents during the school year.

Aims and objectives
• Learn how to make booklets and write stories together with their children.
a) ideas for spending quality time for parents and children together.
 
In April 2007, children assisted by their parentsproduced “My family” booklets with short stories describing their family and school life. The booklets were illustrated with photos and drawings.
 
In July 2007 was held the Mom, dad and I” meeting including different games and contests in the open. The games were proposed and organized by parents and teachers. The meeting itself was preceded by an organizational meeting of parents related to logistics and planning of spending quality time together.  The event took place in the vicinity of the city. Parents and children were actively involved spending their free time together and getting to know each other better. After that the families prepared delicious lunch for everybody and had a lot of fun. Parents and children enjoyed the diverse activities immensely. All the participants expressed their satisfaction of the time spent together in the open.
 
In September 2007 was held workshop for parents of the new first graders. They shared some of their expectations and personal motivation to become part of the MorePAL project.
 
Expectations

Formation in children of habits for individual study, team work skills and becoming a responsible, autonomous and moral personality;
• Giving to children quality education and diverse knowledge in different subject areas;
• Providing to each child equal chances to develop his/her talent in various fields offered at school.
• Participation and organization of creative school activities: celebrations, sport events, open door lessons;
• Involvement in extracurricular activities: picnics, excursions, etc.;
• Involvement in improvement of classroom environment.
