Management of behavioural problems – workshops in Horea School (RO)

Parents and teachers from Horea School were interested in finding ways to deal with different behavioural problems. That’s why two workshops related to this topic were organized. The first one was focused on The influences of TV programs on children’ behaviours and the second one was dedicated to the Management of aggressive behaviours. Both workshops were organized at the beginning of November 2007.

Aims of the workshops

By the end of the workshops, the parents and teachers will be able to:

To describe the influences of TV programs on children’ behaviours;
To identify efficient strategies for influencing children’ behaviour;
To collaborate in order to implement these strategies;
To describe the contexts in which bullying takes place;
To analyse the behavioural clues, which indicate that the child is being bullied or is bullying other children;
To describe efficient strategies for influencing the behaviours of children who are bullied and to reduce school violence;
To collaborate in order to implement these strategies in the school and at home.

Methodology of the workshops

The concept of the workshops was to start with a self knowledge exercise related to the topic to be discussed and worked on concretely within group activities planned as very interactive sessions based on collaboration (think-pair-share activity, pair activity: parent-school teacher, group discussions), independent activities, study case. The accent was placed on participatory methods that would give value and use to the participants’ previous experience.
